Featured B+ Hero

As you may recall from my recent updates, I got a call on the 4th of July that one of our B+ Heroes, Alex Blythe, may have a brain tumor.  Alex has battled cancer twice already!  Following the brain surgery on July 5th, the family and all of Alex’s friends breathed a strange sigh of relief to learn that it was “only” encephalitis, a brain infection.  Strange world when that is good news, huh.  Sadly, in a cruel twist, that ‘good’ news was yanked away from Alex and his family last Saturday when Alex’s Mom posted the following on Facebook.

“I am sad to inform all of you that we received Alex’s biospy results. He has been diagnosed with a stage 3 brain tumor called anaplastic astrocytoma. We have alot of hurdles in the coming months if everyone could keep our boy in your prayers. He is such a fighter, I know he can beat this too!! Keeping that B+ attitude. ..”

Please keep Alex and his family in your prayers.

Random Andrew Story

I got a lump in my throat today as I drove by Wilmington Friends School and saw the kids in their uniforms for the Phillies Summer Camp.  I remember Andrew and his friend, Chase, down there at the camp.  Andrew was so excited to get his very own Phillies uniform.  The picture above is from one of my baseball games when Andrew was our bat boy.  Those were GOOD days!

B+ Running “The Strip at Night”

Wouldn’t it be really cool to say that you’ve run a Marathon or 1/2 Marathon?

Need a little extra push?

Why not run it to help cure childhood cancer?

Join our B+ Running Team and run “The Strip at Night” in Las Vegas on Sun. Nov. 17th.  You commit to raising money and The B+ Foundation will cover the cost of your airfare, hotel, race registration, pre-race dinner, a PERSONAL running coach, and much more.

You don’t have to be an experienced runner — our team consists of beginners to seasoned runners.  Don’t worry about the training – the coach is there to help you.  Don’t worry about the fund raising – we can help you with that.

Register today by clicking here or email Carly with any questions at [email protected].

Thank You Tyrant Wrestling Camp

I had the privilege of being invited to speak to the young men attending last week’s Tyrant Wrestling Camp.  The boys brought in spare change and other donations and presented me with $500 to help fight childhood cancer.  Cory Frederick, owner of Tyrant Wrestling, matched the kids’ donation with another $500!  Thank you for your generosity and thank you for allowing me to spread awareness about the cruelty of childhood cancer and the benefit of “Living Like Andrew”.

Stay cool!
