2013 Childhood Cancer Action Day Announced

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is proud to be one of twenty-six national patient
advocacy groups, medical, and scientific organizations that make up the Alliance for Childhood Cancer. These organizations
meet regularly in Washington DC to share ideas and concerns and work collaboratively to advance policies leading to improved research, public
education, and diagnosis, treatment, supportive care and survivorship for children and adolescents with cancer.

We are pleased to announce that this year’s Childhood Cancer Action Day in Washington, DC is scheduled for June 17-18, 2013.

This year, members of the Alliance for Childhood Cancer will once again host a two-day event that includes issues and advocacy training, and pre-arranged
Capitol Hill visits with Congressional representatives and their staff. Our goal: to provide the childhood cancer community - parents, children, and others
- with the opportunity to visit Capitol Hill and advocate for the important childhood cancer issues currently before Congress.

This is a great opportunity for your voice to be heard, whether your child has/had cancer or not. We hope you will join us. For more information, please contact me at [email protected] or click here.

Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer

We are excited about two great events happening this Saturday to raise awareness and money for the battle against childhood cancers.

St. George's High School is hosting a 6 hour dance marathon called "Hawk Fest" from 4pm-10pm. St. George's is the FIRST high school to be paired with a B+ Hero. The Hawks of St. George's have been SO good to their B+ Hero, Nathan Silpath. The entire school community has embraced the battle against childhood cancer with B+ stickers and messages of hope all throughout the school. I can't wait to speak with and thank the students on Saturday. To help the Hawks reach their goal of $4,600 ($100 for each of the 46 kids diagnosed with cancer today), please visit the Hawk Fest website.

From St. George's, I will head to Salesianum School in Wilmington. This will, of course, be a very special event for me and my family as this is 'Andrew's School'. The SALSThon event will run from 9pm-6am...yes, you read that right....an overnighter. The young men at Sallies have done an amazing job creating this event to fight childhood cancer while honoring their Salesian brother, Andrew. To support Sallies in their combined effort with Ursuline and Padua Academies, please visit the SALSThon website. If you're local, come out to Chick fil-A in Concord Mall tomorrow (3/14) from 4-8:30 for the SALSThon fundraiser.

Live Like Andrew.
