Running to Make a Difference

B+ Hero Philo

“We are Philo’s family and The B+ Foundation helped us with our mortgage in July. We cannot begin to tell you how much that meant to us. It helped us tremendously. Every little bit helps when dealing with something like this. Our son Philo has been through a lot since his diagnosis and so has our family.

The work you do really is a God send. It helps alleviate some of the burden of finance when we just need to focus on our son. He also has a sister who feels the stress as well.

Again we can not thank you enough! You are truly angels in our lives!”

2024 NYC Marathon

Last Saturday, I did something that I never thought possible. I ran 20 miles as part of my training for the TCS New York City Marathon on Nov. 3rd. I’ve been following a running plan since July 1st and 20 miles is the longest run and now I get to “taper” down. Hallelujah!!! :) It’s been a real grind, but I haven’t missed one training day of the plan. So far, I’ve run about 400 miles since my “official” training program started on July 1st. I would not describe myself as a ‘runner’ and I am EXTREMELY slow. But, I am dedicated to running to honor my son and all of the kids who have fought or are fighting cancer. My goal is to raise $14,000 to recognize how old my son was when he died. ALL of the money that I raise will help deserving families of kids with cancer pay their bills while their precious child fights for his or her life.

I plan to run with the names of 26 B+ Heroes on my arms to motivate me for each mile. These are kids who I have personally known who have, sadly, passed away. What these kids battle through is so much harder than what I’m doing. I’m not at my $14,000 goal yet, so if you’d like to support me - at any level - it would be greatly appreciated. Please find my fundraising page here. Thank you!

Thanks for caring about our kids!
