B+ Hero Miles

You make such a difference. We’re not “strangers”, we’re ‘friends we haven’t met yet’.

“Though we’ve never met, you have given us tremendous courage and hope. Our 9-year-old son, Miles, was diagnosed with a brain tumor back in March 2024 on the day of his little brother’s 7th birthday. It sent our world into both shock and fear. An emergency neurosurgery helped stabilize Miles, and thankfully he is doing well. The tumor is inoperable, so Miles will be in some sort of treatment plan the rest of his life. In the near-term, he is in an 18-month round of chemotherapy to try and fight for some sense of normal in his early teenage years.

Miles has a bright smile and is often dreaming of the future, he’s in many ways the model of a BePositive kid. Watching him overcome his nerves around the many medical appointments he has is inspiring - he’s brave and has never complained.

Your financial support to our family through The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation has truly helped us focus on our son’s best future in light of our current challenges. Both my wife and I work to make ends meet, and when we became aware of our son’s tumor, our worlds were disrupted to the point where finances became a real stressor (as if this wasn’t hard enough). To have the very tangible financial support of families like yours helps us know we are not alone, and that we will make it through this.

Thanks for your kindness to strangers and for being a positive force in the world for good.

How could I not share this great home-made thank you note?

NIH/NCI Study

We have been asked to assist the National Institutes of Health (NCI)/National Cancer Institute (NCI) in recruitment for a survey that they are conducting. Please feel free to share this with anyone that qualifies.

Thank you, Marie Schneider, for your generous donation of an e-bike for our Golf Outing Auction. Any cool things like this (or sports tickets, restaurant gift cards, unique stuff), please contact me at [email protected].

Andrew’s birthday is coming up on Sept. 3rd. More to come on ways that you can help honor my boy and help other kids.
