What an Exciting Experience!

Screen Shot 2021-09-27 at 5.33.22 PM.png

The very first B+ Hero that we ever paired with a group is Joey Borowski (aka Joey B.).  Joey was in treatment for about 3 1/2 years for leukemia, off treatment for about 15 months, and then the cancer relapsed.  In Nov. 2012, Joey B. had a bone marrow transplant...and, btw, his blood type is now B+...so I guess now he's Joey B+.  So, as you may know, you can only meet your bone marrow donor after 12 months and if both parties agree.  Well, this weekend, Joey and his family got to meet Nick, his donor.  Chris, Ali, and I were tremendously honored to be included with the family at a brunch yesterday morning.  It was an amazing experience to see Joey and Nick, the young man that has saved his life.  We were so honored to be a part of this unique experience.

Thank You Delaware 87ers

Last Friday evening was B+/UDance Night at the Delaware 87ers game.  The 87ers are the D-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers.  We had B+ Heroes on the court before the game, an ice cream party for them hosted by 7 footer, Nerlens Noel, and the team jersey for the night had a gold ribbon on one side, B+ logo on the other, and all of the UDance B+ Heroes' names on the back of the jersey.  The players liked the jerseys so much that they didn't want to give them up.  They had to, though, as we auctioned them off after the game.  The 87ers even got an autographed jersey of Andrew's all-time favorite player--- AI, The Answer, Allen Iverson!  A portion of all ticket sales will go to the UDance totals to help The B+ Foundation fight childhood cancer.  If you're local, you've got to check out the 87ers...there are only 6 home games left.  It's high quality basketball, inexpensive, and you're right on top of the action.  Thank you 87ers for helping us!

Buy a Honda in DE this Month

Don't forget -- every new Honda sold this month at Martin Honda on Cleveland Avenue in Newark means another $100 for The B+ Foundation.  I heard they had a great sales day on Saturday.  Don't let the snow keep you from visiting Martin Honda in Newark.  Thanks to everyone at Martin Honda!

The B+ Foundation Gets Coverage on Buzzfeed

Depending upon your age, you're either extremely familiar with Buzzfeed or you've never heard of it!  :)  Buzzfeed is the 40th most popular website in the US and we got some nice coverage about one of our recent high school dance marathons.  The more exposure about childhood cancer, the better.  EVERYONE should be talking about childhood cancer.  Remember, this week, 2 whole classrooms of children will die from cancer!

Bucknell University Gets Recognized for their B+ Event

While I know they didn't do it for the recognition, I'm thrilled to hear that the Greek students at Bucknell University received an award this past weekend at a major Greek Leadership conference for their "Twisted 5k" that they organized for The B+ Foundation last fall.  Great job, Bisons!

Opportunity for B+ Hero Families

Our good friends at ConKerr Cancer have asked me to invite all B+ Hero families to their annual PJ Party at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia.  It's fun and it's FREE!

The event will be held on Friday, March 21st from 6-9pm at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia.  For more information, click the link below.www.conkerrpjparty.ticketbud.com

A Different Kind of Party

Now for an adult opportunity :)  ...if you're a fan of EDM music and/or nationally-famous DJ 3LAU (pronounced BLAU), come out to Lit UltraBar in Philly on March 7th.  Off-Center Productions, the promoter of the event, has committed to donate money from all of their shows to The B+ Foundation.  If I'm not mistaken, the show STARTS at 1:00am...yeah, may not be right for everyone reading this!

Still Time to Join Us for The Delaware Marathon/Half-Marathon

Please visit aglodoxr.com/marathon to learn about how easy it is to join our team.  It doesn't matter if you're an experienced runner or a rookie.  And, we have all the tools (i.e. personal running coach) to help you train and raise money.  Think about how great you'll feel!

As I read what I've written, it kind of amazes me all of the different kinds of things that we - you, me, all of us - do to fight childhood cancer.  But, that's great.  And, it should tell you that EVERYONE can find a way to help in this battle...regardless of your age, where you live, whatever.  Thanks for joining us...we can only do what you enable us to do.
