Legislative History Milestone!

The U.S. Senate Passes The STAR Act!

Yesterday, the STAR Act, the most comprehensive childhood cancer bill ever introduced, was PASSED in the Senate by "Unanimous Consent".  This is HUGE!  The Alliance for Childhood Cancer, of which The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is a Member, has been pushing for this legislation for a long time.  The STAR Act has received bipartisan and bicameral support and now heads to the House where we have well over half of the Members already signed on as Co-Sponsors.  We've been close before, so it's not time to celebrate just yet.  We need the House to stand up for the kids, which I'm a confident that they will.  And then, it's on to the President's desk.

More Student Events to Celebrate

Thank you MOT Charter School (DE) for organizing their inaugural B+ dance marathon.  And, for the 10th year in a row, North Star Elementary School (DE) has been actively fundraising and incorporating the B+ message into their curriculum.  Last Friday, they celebrated with their annual B+ Movie Night which was well-attended.  The largest high school in Delaware, William Penn HS, is working with us for the first time this year and will be holding a series of events.  And, this past Wednesday, I had the pleasure of escaping the snow to join my Longhorn friends at the University of Texas.  When all is said and done following their Round-Up concert series this weekend, the students will have raised about $125,000 down in Austin.  Thank you to all the students!

We've got a big weekend planned with an overnight dance marathon at our first high school ever - the Charter School of Wilmington - on Friday, followed by NOVAdance at Villanova on Saturday, and The College of New Jersey (TCNJam) on Sunday.  Can't say enough good things about these kids!!!

Make it a great weekend.

B+
